About me

In 1993, I had the good fortune of being introduced to two potters during my three years living in Japan.  I worked for the JET programme in Osaka, and while teaching kept me busy, I spent much of my free time at their pottery studios making, laughing and learning.  During this time I had the opportunity to travel to San Miguel, Mexico where one of my mentors, Tanida-sensei, taught during the summers.  After three years, I left Japan for London, to pursue post-graduate studies in Asian Art at the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and Sotheby's.  This experience allowed hands on study with antique works of art, including ceramics from China, Japan and Korea. I worked for several years in Asian antiquities for both a private dealer of Chinese and Japanese Art, and at the Victoria and Albert Museum, before moving over to run Asia Contemporary, a contemporary Asian art gallery in Bloomsbury.

Each piece is unique and many are inspired by the shapes and colours of Asia.

I have always loved working with clay.  My pieces are made by hand or on the wheel.  The colour, size, and shape will vary slightly from piece to piece. If you like a particular shape or colour I am happy to take commissions.
